Shabana expected to appear in public

12-time National Film Award-winning once-highly popular and acclaimed actress Shabana, who has been living in the USA since 2000 after leaving her film career in 1997, is now in Dhaka. The veteran actress is expected to appear in public this time around. DhakaLive has news that she has been invited to a programme tomorrow on the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) premises. Bangladesh Film Directors’ Association has organised the programme to honour the cast and crew of Liberation War-based maiden film ‘Ora 11 Jon’. Shabana is expected to attend the event tomorrow, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, secretary general of the association, revealed the news at a press conference at BFDC yesterday.
“The cast and crew of ‘Ora 11 Jon’ will be honoured tomorrow at a programme initiated by the Film Directors’ Association. We have invited Shabana to attend the programme and we hope she will be present there”, Gulzar told. “Shabana would stay home for a month. She wishes to return USA before the Eid”, he added.
On the other hand, Shabana, who left acting about one and a half decades ago, has been chosen for the Lifetime Achievement Award of National Film Award 2015. If she wouldn’t attend tomorrow’s programme, her fans and viewers firmly believe the actress will appear in public through attending the upcoming National Film Award ceremony this year.
