Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), Dhaka, in collaboration with Jagannath Hall, Dhaka University (DU), celebrated Rabindra-Nazrul Jayanti with a programme of music and dance on Monday evening at Upasanalaya, Jagannath Hall, DU in the capital. The event was organised to celebrate the birth anniversaries of two prominent figures of Bengali literature—Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam.  
Presided over by director of Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre Jayashree Kundu, DU vice chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique attended the event as chief guest. Taposh Kumar Biswas, Assistant Professor, DU delivered welcome speech at the programme, while eminent Indian writer-columnist MN Kundu was present as a discussant and Professor Dr Asim Sarkar, Provost, Jagannath Hall, DU gave the vote of thanks.  
The Monday’s programme included dance performance by Turongomi dance troupe led by Pooja Sengupta, rendition of Rabindra Sangeet by Aditi Mohsin and Nazrul Sangeet by Dr Nashid Kamal.
Turongomi dance troupe performed dances numbers such as ‘He Notun’ (Tagore dance), ‘Ami Jar Nupurer Chondo’ (Nazrul dance) and ‘Aji Bangladesher Hridoy Hote’ (Aroti dance on Tagore dance).
On the other hand, eminent Rabindra Sangeet singer Aditi Mohsin performed songs like ‘Borishodhora Majhe’, ‘Venge Mor Gorer Chabi’, ‘Tumi Kon Kononer Ful’ and ‘Tomar Khola Haoa’. She was accompanied by Sumon Reza Khan on keyboard, Subir Ghosh on table and Asit Biswas on esraj during the entire performance.
Besides, Nashid Kamal rendered several popular Nazrul songs like ‘Podmar Deu Re’, ‘Allah Te Jar Purno Iman’, ‘Mora Jonjhar Moto’, ‘Laili Tomar Eseche’ and Nodir Naam Soi Anjana’. The singer was accompanied by Nur E Alam Shojib on keyboard, Pallab Sanyal on table and Shakil Mohammad Dipon on guitar.
