They made the suggestion at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Virtual Gallery’ of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) at the museum’s Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium at Shahbagh here.
Prime Minister’s Adviser on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury inaugurated the ‘Virtual Gallery’ as chief guest.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum Curator Md Nazrul Islam Khan and Prime Minister’s Office Director General (administration) and Project Director of A2i programme Kabir Bin Anwar addressed the function as special guests.
National Museum Director General Faizul Latif Chowdhury delivered the welcome address while Board of Trustees Chairman Professor Hashem Khan.
Addressing the function, Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi underscored the need for reaching the country’s thousand-year-old history and heritage to the doorstep to the people, particularly the new generation, to combat religious fanaticism.
He said it is very difficult to visit the national museum physically, but now it would be easy to visit the museum online as the museum launched the ‘Virtual Gallery’.
Asaduzzaman Noor, in his speech, said as part of the government’s initiatives to uphold the country’s history, culture and heritage to the common people as well as the world community, the virtual gallery has been launched so that the people could visit the museum easily using internet.
“We have a plan to build more museums across the country to ensure access of the common people to the museum,” he said, adding that now the extension work of the national museum is underway.
The national museum has launched the virtual galley in association with Prime Minister’s Office’s Access 2 Information (A2i) Programme with the financial assistance of Service Innovation Fund.
