Exhibition on 100 species of birds underway at Natl Museum
The exhibition remains open to all until April 28

A two-week bird exhibition titled Bangladesh, a Land of Birds featuring 100 types of birds of the country is now underway at the Nalinikanta Bhattasali Gallery of the Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) in the capital.
Adviser to Prime Minister on Energy, Power and Mineral Resources Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on Saturday, while chairman of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Selina Hossain was present as special guest. Presided over by Chairman of Board of Trustees of BNM Hashem Khan, Director General of BNM Faizul Latif Chowdhury delivered the welcome speech at the inaugural ceremony.
Speakers at the event told that destruction of accommodation of birds, lack of food, use of excessive pesticide and imbalance of environment are the reason for the extinction of birds in Bangladesh. Speakers put emphasised on the increasing of awareness among people, which can protect the bird from extinction like lifestyle of birds, preservation of birds and significance of birds for the environment.
Bangladesh Bird Club, in association with National Museum, has organised the exhibition featuring 100 photographs of birds by 50 photographers. A total of hundred species of birds has been put on display in the exhibition which were not displayed before.
Besides, a seminar titled Bird conservation In Bangladesh, India and Nepal was held on the opening day of the exhibition.
The exhibition remains open to all every day from 10am to 5pm until April 28.
