Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and Meherpur district administration has taken a day long programmes to observe the Mujibnagar Day here today to recall the history as on April 17 in 1971 the nation witnessed the oath-taking of the country’s first government, reports BSS.
The programme will begin with the hoisting of national flag at dawn atop memorial monument at Mujibnagar. The other programmes of the day will include placing floral wreaths at the memorial monument at 9 am and presenting guard of honour and parade by freedom fighters, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, Ansar, BNCC, Scout, Girl Guides and school students. A discussion will be held at the Sheikh Hasina Mancha here at 10:30 am on the day while Awami League General Secretary and Road,Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will join it as the chief guest. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim will chair it. A cultural function will be held at Muktijoddha Complex Bhaban at 5 pm.
