Bangladesh pace prodigy Mustafizur Rahman dismissed the news of the Sports Star Live, stating that he will play for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) if everything is in right shape.
The forthcoming cash-rich T20 tournament is scheduled to launch its 10th journey on April 5 following the eye catching, pompous and grandiose opening ceremony.
It was circulated through Sports Star Live that Mustafiz will not play the IPL for Hyderabad this year. The Indian media claimed that Mustafiz himself tells them in an interview during the gap of practice in Sri Lanka.
It is also surfaced out that Bangladesh shorter-formats captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza warned Mustafiz about IPL prior to the first one day of the
three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla. But Mustafiz told media ‘different talks’. He said that Mashrafe bhai never prohibit me from playing IPL.
“Mashrafe bhai never tells me not to play this year IPL,” said Mustafizur Rahman.
Last Thursday, Star Cricket focused the matter of Mustafiz after the revelation of the news of Fizz’s negation to play IPL this season.
Citing the news as false and groundless, the new pace sensation said that he must play IPL if he fits.
“I never say that I will not go to play IPL. I have been benefited much to play in IPL. If I will be fit, I will then go to play IPL,” Rahman told media in Colombo.
Bangladesh will next travel to Ireland in May for the tri-nation series after the end of the Sri Lanka tour. At that time, the IPL will be held. And so, he may miss some matches at the initial and last quarter of the franchisee-based T20 tournament.
When asked if he misses the
IPL, Mustafiz said that he could play some matches of the middle of the tournament.
“I probably miss some matches at the first and last quarter of the IPL. But I could play some more matches in the middle. If the board gives me their nod I will then go there to play IPL,” the 20-year-old paceman told in response to a query.
Bangladesh team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon termed Mustafiz’s news as baseless and that Mustafiz can never tell such words.
“Mustafiz never delivers such statement. That’s all groundless,” said Khaled Mahmud, who is also one of the influential directors in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Bangladesh pace sensation impressed all with his pace bowling performance on his IPL debut. He scalped 17 wickets off 16 matches in 2016. Sunrisers Hyderabad tasted their first IPL trophy.
