To celebrate the 97th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in a befitting manner, Bangalee Sangskritik Jote has organised an event titled ‘Bangabandhu Utsab’ (Bangabandhu Festival) today. The daylong event will be taking place at Bakultala of Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University (DU) in the capital.
DU vice chancellor professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will inaugurate the event, while lawmaker Momtaz Begum, noted artist Professor Hashem Khan, veteran theatre personality Dr Enamul Haq and director general of Shilpakala Academy Liaquat Ali Lucky will attend the programme as guests.
The first part of the festival features a drawing competition on Bangabandhu, Liberation War and Bangladesh. Artist Hashem Khan will inaugurate the competition. Besides, screening of a documentary on Bangabandhu and a cultural programme performed by national-level artistes will be held.
On the other hand, the main part of the programme will start at 3pm. Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader will be present as chief guest. Among others, vice chancellor of National University Professor Harunur Rashid, cultural affairs secretary of Awami League Asim Kumar Ukil and central committee member of Awami League Marina Jahan Kabita will also attend the event as guests.
The opening song of the festival is written by lyricist Lutfor Rahman Riton and tuned by Emon Saha. Alongside other artistes, popular singers Parvez Sazzad and Konal have lent their vocals to the song. Besides, folk queen-famed singer Momtaz Begum, Kaderi Kibria and Rathindranath Roy will also perform at the programme. Sohel Rahman and his troupe will present dance at the programme. Besides, the famous song of Kolkata’s Angshuman Roy titled ‘Shono Ekti Mujiburer Theke Lakhkha Mujiburer’ will be sung by Bhassor Roy, son of Angshuman and singer Dinat Jahan Munni.
During the second part of the programme, singers Sadi Muhammad, Shaheen Samad, Chandana Majumdar, Abdul Jabbar, Kiran Chandra Roy, Indromohan Rajbongshi, Salma and Mehedi Hasan, among others, will perform. Moreover, books on Bangabandhu and Liberation War will also be exhibited at the event.
