Noted Nazrul singer Kahirul Anam Shakil enthralled Dhakaites through rendition of Nazrul Sangeet including gazhals, Islamic songs and shayma sangeet, at a solo musical event held at the Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) at Shahbagh in the capital on Friday. Kahirul Anam Shakil took the stage with the rendition of Nazrul’s gazhal ‘Sadh Jagey Mone Porojibane’. Then he presented another Nazrul’s gazhal ‘Keno Diley E Kanta’ at the show.
The singer mesmerised the audience with Nazrul’s romantic songs ‘Tomar Akhir Moto’ and ‘Tumi Sundar Tai Cheye Thaki’. From romantic genre, Kahirul Anam Shakil then moved to shayma sangeet-- a genre of Bengali devotional songs dedicated to the Hindu goddess Shyama or Kali—and rendered Shyama number ‘Namer Laglo Agun’. He also rendered Nazrul songs--‘Harano Hiyar Nikunja Pathey’, ‘Gabhir Nishite’ and ‘Mor Priya Hobe’.
The singer also presented a few songs composed by Tagore and Atul Prasad Sen along with a few songs of yesteryears. The popular Tagore number rendered by Shakil includes ‘Gaye Amar Pulok Lagey’ and ‘Eso Eso Amar Ghore Eso’, Atul Prasad Sen’s popular song ‘Eka Mor Gaaner Tari Bhasiyechhilam’ and songs of yesteryear like ‘Katadin Pore Ele’, ‘Barne Gandhe Chhande’, ‘Amay Prashna Kore’.
Shakil ended his solo show by rendering popular Nazrul sangeet ‘Padmar Dheu Re’. At the entire programme, Shakil were accompanied by Enamul Haque on Tabla, Asit Dey on Esraj and Sunil Kumar on Key-board.
