Women make it to top in Narsingdi

Several top government officials in Narsingdi district are women. They have successfully proven themselves in their work and are known for their sincerity, honesty and sense of responsibility. Women have been holding important posts in the judicial service, police, health and sports for the past few years, official sources said.
According to sources in the Narsingdi district judge's court, three main judges are women. Fatema Najib is the district and sessions Judge. She has been holding the post for about two years.  Narsingdi district women and child repression and prevention judge (Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Damon Tribunal Judge) is another major post in the judicial service. Shamim Ahama holds this post. She became the tribunal judge in March 2014.
Begum Shamim Afroj is the chief judicial magistrate of Narsingdi. She has been working in this post for the past one year. Amena Begum is the superintendent of police (SP) of Narsingdi. She has been holding the post for over two years.
In the district health service, Dr Sultana Razia is the civil surgeon The previous Civil Surgeon too was a woman, Dr Putul Roy. Nargis Sultana is the district primary education officer (DPEO). Farjana Akter Sathi is the district sports officer. She is the only woman sports officer in Bangladesh.
Mahmuda Akter is the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Polash upazila in Narsingdi district. She has been in the post for about an year. Her predecessor too was a woman, Airin Farjana. Umme Habiba is the UNO of Belabo in the district.
