For the first time, guitar master Guthrie Govan will perform live in Bangladesh. The concert titled ‘Guthrie in Dhaka’ will be held on February 26 on the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) premises in the capital.
The event will be sponsored and organised by Limitless Entertainment Ltd. with the technical support of The Rock Project. Guthrie will be accompanied by Gino Banks on drums and Mohini Dey on bass as he strums at the concert. Apart from the master of strings, Bangladeshi band Manam Ahmed, Raef Al Hasan Rafa, Artcell’s Ershad Zaman, X-factor’s Iqbal Asif Jewel, Powersurge’s Samir Hafiz, Eclipse’s Wasirun Khan, and Quanta will also perform at the concert.
Apart from the concert, there will be an opportunity to learn Guitar from Guthrie Govan. The session named ‘Exclusive Guitar Clinic by Guthrie Govan’ will be held on February 27at Gulshan Shooting Club in the capital. Any Guitar enthusiastic can participate in the event.
Guthrie Govan is arguably the hottest guitarist in the international music scene today, and his 2006 solo album Erotic Cakes was widely recognised as an instant classic. He started playing the guitar at about the age of three. Today he is considered one of the best modern guitarists. He has mastered a lot of musical styles and is recognised for his complex tapping and mastery of the instrument. Guthrie is currently on the World Tour with legendary composer Hans Zimmer.
Gino Banks has been fooling around with the drums since he was 8 years old and took it up seriously at the age of 15. Gino is a versatile player, this trait leads him to perform and recording with artists and bands of all types of genres, artists like his father Louiz Banks, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia; to Bollywood sessions and gigs with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Salim-Sulaiman, Vishal-Shekhar, Pritam, to fusion groups SILK, Yuva, Niladri Kumar’s Sitar Funk, Rakesh Chaurasia, Amaan & Ayaan Ali Khan and Bala Bashkar; to rock bands like Helga’s Fun Castle, Gary Lawyer, Skinny Alley, Joe Alvares and Zero.
Mohini Dey, daughter of bass player Sujoy dey has been described as a prodigy by many acclaimed musicians. Mohini dey has been already making waves in music. She started learning bass guitar at the tender age of 3 and never looked back since having worked with people like Ranjit Barot, AR Rehman and Steve Vai.
