The second-year students of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib hall of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) on Thursday night blockaded the main road of the university demanding to resolve their seat crisis.
The agitating students came out of the hall around 7:30pm and blockaded the street also in protest against the alleged misbehavior of another hall provost with them when they went to talk about their seat crisis.
The second year students of different faculties of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib hall are still living in the common rooms. Several times they informed the university authorities about their problems but yet to get any response. Recently, Prof Farida yesmin Bari, provost of the newly established female dormitory named ‘Begum Rokeya Hall’ of the university, allegedly misbehaved with the students. The students said depriving them, the junior students are being given separate seats in the newly-constructed dormitory. Later, the university proctor Prof AKM Zakir Hossain went to the spot and assured them to resolve the problem after discussion. While talked about the misbehavior with the students, the hall provost Prof Farida told the journalists not to ask any question in this regard. Provost of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib hall Prof Azad-ud-Daula said the university vice-chancellor himself has taken the responsibility of the students and hopefully it would be resolved soon.
