Young director Abu Shahed Emon’s much-anticipated film ‘Jalaler Golpo’ (Jalal’s Story), which has already participated in numerous local and international film festivals and earned appreciation and several awards, is participating 15th edition of the ‘Third Eye Asian Film Festival’. Organised by the Asian Film Foundation, the festival has begun on December 15 and will run till December 22 in Mumbai, India. The film ‘Jalaler Golpo’ will be screened on the closing day of the festival.
Produced under the banner of the Boutique Cinema Project of Impress Telefilm, the key cast of the film includes Tauquir Ahmed, Mosharraf Karim, Moushumi Hamid, Sharmimala, Nur-e-Alam Nayan and Metali Das. The central character ‘Jalal’ is jointly played by newcomer Arafat Rahman and Mohammad Emon.
In the festival, contemporary Asian films will be showcased in the main non-competitive section Spectrum Asia to capture the cinematic trends in Asian countries.
The only competitive section open to short films are being judged by an International Jury. Taking part in the competition was the Bangladeshi short film ‘Kobi Swamir Mrityur Por Amar Jobanbondi’, written and Directed by Tasmiah Afrin Mou and produced by Rubaiyat Hossain. Just had its world premiere at the Festival Tous Courts in France the film has also won the Tareque Shahriar Best Short Film Award at the Dhaka International Short and Independent Film Festival.
