Swapnil Sajib, the winner of Rabindra Sangeet contest ‘Nabo Gane Nabo Prane 2012’ organised by Channel i, is going to participate in the 35th North America Bengali Conference-Banga Sammelan 2015 (NABC), which have been scheduled to take place from July 10 to 12 in Houston, Texas, USA. The singer is set to fly today evening for attending the grand programme organised by the Tagore Society of Houston.
Though many singers from India participated in the Banga Sammelan in the past years, Sajib is going to attend the event as the first Rabindra Sangeet singer from Bangladesh. He will be performing Rabindra Sangeet for two hours non-stop on the stage of Bangla Sammelan on July 12 besides rendering a few numbers of folk tracks. Popular singer Shreya Ghosal from India will also perform on the same stage.
Swapnil Sajib shared his feelings about attending the prestigious event, “It is really a matter of pride and honour for me as a singer that I am going to attend the Banga Sammelan as the first Bangladeshi Rabindra Sangeet singer. I want blessing from everyone that I can perform at the programme wonderfully.”
On the other hand, Swapnil Sajib will perform at two more programmes in California and Virginia on July 25 and 26 respectively.
Hailing from Faridpur, Sajib has released two Rabindra Sangeet albums in Dhaka and two albums from Kolkata till now. He will release his fifth album shortly, he told DhakaLive. l
