DJ Rahat, Sithi to present country’s first cup song

Abanti Sithi always had a penchant for singing. As a student of Jahangirnagar University, she regularly associates herself with cultural programmes and performs songs on stage. Since she watches Hindi songs online, recently, she came across the much popular cup song style and was quite impressed by it. She was impressed enough to give it a try herself and she applied it to the track of Souls, ‘Keno Ey Nisangata’, followed by Kumar Biswajit’s ‘Jekhane Simanto Tomar’. She posted the videos on Facebook and received immense feedback. Taking those responses into consideration, she collaborated a song with popular DJ Rahat to present the country’s first ever cup song. DhakaLive has news that the recording of the song was recently completed in a recording studio in the capital’s Moghbazar area.
DJ Rahat said, “This is Bangladesh’s first ever cup song. The song is Mujib Pardesi’s ‘Shona Bandhu Re’ from a long time ago. Written by Hasan Matiur Rahman and tuned by Shefali Ghosh, we presented the song in a new, fresh manner. Sithi sang the song very well.”
Abanti Sithi said, “Keeping the authentic feel of the original song, the music arrangement has been done brilliantly by DJ Rahat. We did the work with utmost care. We also plan on releasing a music video of the song which will be directed by Shuvobrata Sarkar. We hope the listeners will like it.”
Abanti’s four songs can be found on Facebook in which she used cups, foil paper, hair clips and other items and the songs received praise.
