BNP declares Dhaka district unit panel
The BNP has announced a partial committee of its Dhaka district unit after 23 years without holding any conference. The party yesterday announced the 56-member partial committee in a press release signed by the partys assistant office secretary Taiful Islam Tipu. The announcement came at a time when the party is working towards reorganisation from the grassroots level through conferences. Former lawmaker Dr Dewan Mohammed Salahuddin, Khandaker Abu Ashfaq and Rezaul Kabir Pol were included in the committees as its president, general secretary and organising secretary, respectively.
Former president Abdul Mannan and general secretary Amanullah Aman were named honourable members of the committee. The other members of the committee include BNP standing committee member Goyeshwar Chandra Roy, Ziaur Rahman, Sultana Ahmmed and Aparna Roy.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir approved the committee, according to a press release issued yesterday. Nazimuddin Master has been appointed as the committees senior vice-president, while Ahsan Habib Nawab has been made its first joint general secretary. Goyeshwar Chandra Roy lauded the formation of the committee, saying that it comprises both new and old faces. All of the committee members are dedicated workers, the BNP leader said. When asked why the committee was not formed through conference, Roy said it was done keeping in mind the current political situation. Meanwhile, the party has also announced a 51-member convening committee of the Dinajpur district unit, with AZM Rezwanul Haque as its convener. Mirza Fakhrul Alamgir approved this committee as well.
