Tauquir-directed ‘Oggatonama’ premiered

The film hits cinemas this Friday

‘Oggatonama’ (The Unnamed)—a much-talked about film produced by Impress Telefilm and directed by Tauquir Ahmed—is going to be released in cinemas this Friday. On the occasion of the film’s release in the different parts of the country, a premiere show was arranged yesterday afternoon in the capital’s Star Cineplex of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall.
The premiere show of the film was attended by Impress Telefilm managing director Faridur Reza Sagor, director Tauquir Ahmed and cast and crew of the film, among others.
Faridur Reza Sagor said, “After watching the film you will say that Impress Telefilm has presented yet another wonderful film to the audience.”
Tauquir Ahmed said, “This is my fourth film produced by Impress Telefilm. I believe I am going to present the viewers a good story-based film.”
The story of the film ‘Oggatonama’ portrays the tragic life of expatriate workers and their family, who travelled to abroad to earn their livelihood. The central character, a poor farmer from a remote Bangladeshi village facing challenges at every step of this storyline, sometime from the bureaucracy, sometime from his peers and finally from the traditional mindset after receiving the dead body of an ‘Oggatonama’ – the unnamed. Circumstances challenged him to face a situation involved the death news of his son who was an expatriate, working in the Middle East as an unskilled labour.
The casts of the film include Mosharraf Karim, Nipun, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Abul Hayat, Shatabdi Wadud, Shahed Sarif Khan, Fazlur Rahman Babu and others. Besides directing the film, Tauquir Ahmed has the credit to write story, screenplay and dialogue for the film.
Though the film will be released in Bangladesh on August 19, ‘Oggatonama’ saw its world premiere at Marche du Film, the business counterpart of the 69 Cannes Film Festival on May 17 this year.  Besides, the film won a special jury mention at the Gulf of Naples Independent Film Festival on May 21.
