Recently, it is learned from the Investment Attraction Workshop for the Development of Boten Spe-cial Economic Zone that the area, situated at the key junction between China and Laos, is entering an era of rapid growth. This progress is largely due to the construction of the China-Laos railway, which is the middle stretch of the trans-Asia Railway Network, and continues to accelerate. At present, enterprises from China, India and many other countries have settled in the special economic zone.
At the workshop, the Yunnan Packaging Industry Association and the Yunnan Federation of Agricul-tural Enterprises signed cooperative agreements with the Boten Special Economic Zone. In addition, the Yunnan Urban Investment Group and the China-Laos Bank have also reached agreements to settle in the zone.
The Boten Special Econom-ic Zone, as first stop along the Kunming-Bangkok International Highway in Laos, and the only state-level land port between Laos and China, is an important transfer and distribution hub for road cargo transport and outbound tourism be-tween China, Laos and Thailand.
