Gazi Rakayet has been elected as the president, while SA Haque Alik as the general secretary of the Directors Guild, an organization of television drama makers in Bangladesh. Directors Guild election, which is the first election for the organisation since its inception, was held on Friday on the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy premises in the capital. Among 384 members, 354 members cast their votes in the Friday’s election. Zahid Hasan, Gazi Rakayet and Kayes Chowdhury competed for the position of president, and Gazi Rakayet secured 184 votes, while Zahid Hasan got 143 votes. On the other hand, SA Haque Alik as a general secretary defeated his opponent Mostafa Kamal Raj by securing 203 votes, while Raj secured 134 votes.
After completing the voting on Friday evening, the result was published on Saturday early hours. Dr Enamul Haque as chief election commissioner conducted the election, while SM Mohsin and Khairul Alam were the assistant commissioners. Kochi Khondakar, Sokal Ahmed and Syed Shakil elected for the post the vice-president, while Hridi Haque and Masud Mohiuddin for assistant general secretary, Kamruzzaman Sagor for organising secretary, Nayeem Imtiaz for finance secretary and Jewel Mahmud for publicity secretary. 10 executive members are—Ahmed Yusuf Saber, Fazlul Haque, Milon Bhattacharya, Maruf Mithu, Sazzat Sony, Kaiser Ahmed, Kaushik Sankar Das, Firoz Khan and Shamima Sammi.
