Joya to play as Pritilata Waddedar in film

Pritilata Waddedar (1911-1932) was the first Bengali revolutionary nationalist and first Bengali woman who fought against the division of Bengal. Her bravery and sacrifice for the nation's liberty was a source of great inspiration for the later movements in Bangladesh.
Young filmmaker Rashid Palash is going to make a film on the life of Pritilata Waddedar, in which talented actress Joya Ahsan will play the title role as Pritilata in the film. The screenplay and dialogue of the film have been written by Golam Rabbani.
DhakaLive has news that the shooting of the film is expected to begin from September 23 in Dhaka. Director Rashid Palash said, “We are going to start the shooting on September 23. Joya Ahsan will play the title role in the film. We have finalised the matter with her. Right this moment, she is outside the country; she may return home within a few days. Then we will complete signing the deal and make formal announcement.”
Palash said about the story of the film, “India’s independence movement started with anti-British movement. There are many people from our country who contributed in that movement. Among them, Masterda Surya Sen and Pritilata Waddedar were the prominent figures. Films are made in Kolkata with Surya Sen, but we did not make any such film on our own Pritilata till now. To pay a tribute to her, I started planning to make a film on her.”
“The tagline of our film is ‘Sahoser Galpo’ (Story of Bravery). We think that we need this type of film right now. People do not know properly about Pritilata Waddedar. This is our duty to inform people about her. This is not that we are making a movie on her. She herself is ultimately a movie, we will just film it”, she added.
Though the shooting of the film will kick off in Dhaka, most of the part of the shooting will be done in the historical places of Chittagong. Director Palash informed that they have already visited the shooting spots in the meantime. l
