The 2016 Summer Olympics are going to be held soon in Rio de Janeiro. Although Brazil and China are 11 time zones apart and it takes 25 hours for the fastest flight to cover the distance, the Rio Olympics are by no means far away from China. From sports venues to the metro system, from sports clothing to the mascot, Made-in-China goods will be seen in every corner of Rio.
The supplier of garments for torch-bearers is China’s sportswear brand 361°. In addition to torch- bearers, 361° will also provide clothes for volunteers and technical personnel. Before becoming a supplier for the Olympic Games, the company underwent a strict examination process lasting one year, and was finally chosen.
Rio 2016 Olympics mascot Vinicius dolls are also from China. The official badges and mascots will be produced by the Chinese enterprise Huajiang Culture. The opening ceremony has not yet been held, but Olympic souvenirs bearing the label “Huajiang” have already appeared in the official stores of the Olympic Games.
During the Olympic Games, equipment produced by Chinese enterprises will help athletes to deliver their best performances. The volleyball nets, posts and umpire’s chairs produced by Jinling Sports will appear on Olympic volleyball courts. In 2013, Jinling Sports became an official partner of the International Volleyball League, breaking the Japanese brand Senoh’s decades-old monopoly.
Botou ZhangKong Barbell Manufacturing Company in Hebei Province, China is the only supplier of weight training equipment for the Rio 2016 Olympics, for which Zhangkong Barbell has received orders for 70 sets of professional weight training equipment.
As required, the barbell pieces should be in five colours. To overcome colour deviation, light adjustment tests for each colour took more than ten days. Zhangkong Barbell introduced many innovative elements to its production process. Through communication with coaches and athletes from many countries, the company improved the barbells’ handling comfort and reduced the injury probability of athletes.
The security surveillance system for Rio 2016 Olympics will also be provided by a Chinese company.
