A Chittagong court yesterday placed on five -day remand four suspected members of banned Islamist militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) who were arrested from Sitakunda on Monday along with sharp weapons. Chittagong Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate ASM Shaidullah Kaisar passed the order in response to a 10-day remand plea for each by the police. The four arrestees were identified as Musa Ibne Humayar, 25, and Anwar Khurshed Alam,31, hailing from Patiya Upazila, Mohammad Islam, 41, hailing from Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong and Shipon alias Faisal, 25, of Brahmanbaria district. “The court granted to quiz Ansarullah Bangla Team men for five days each in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act after hearing a ten-day remand plea submitted by Investigation Officer of the case,” said Md Moshiur Rahman, court inspector of Chittagong District police. Another case was filed against the arrestees under Arms Act at Sitakunda police station. On Monday, police arrested the four Ansarullah men along with eight machetes, one laptop, six mobile phones and one tab during drives. The arrested Ansarullah team members were planning to carry out attacks in different industrial areas and on law-enforcers in Chittagong, said police.
