A faction of job seekers put the office of vice chancellor of Islam University under lock and key yesterday demanding appointment in different low-grade posts. According to campus sources, a group of job seekers and former leaders of BCL of IU unit Mahmudul Hasan Lenin, Toufiqure Rahman Hitlar, Ashiqure Japan and several other job seekers entered the administrative building and locked the entrances to the building forcing the officials to leave the office. They also disrupted movement of vehicles on the campus during the protest. The VC Abdul Hakim Sarkar was not present in his office at that time. Sources said transport authorities of IU said their transports could not enter the campus from both Kushtia and Jhenidah towns following the blockade by the job seekers. The scheduled examinations and classes were not held due to the chaos. The VC said he has asked police to take necessary actions.
