Boyfriend taken into custody

Sabira Hossain (21), a model, committed suicide at her rented flat in the city's Rupnagar area early yesterday. Before committing suicide, she posted some video clips on a social networking site with sharp knives, telling her boyfriend that she would kill herself. She also worked as a sales executive of the private television channel Mohona TV and the music channel Gaan Bangla. Shaheen Kabir, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Rupnagar police station, said the police found the model's body hanging from a ceiling fan in her flat.
"At this stage, we suspect that Sabira committed suicide following quarrels with her boyfriend, Nirjhar Sinha Roanak. He is the chief photographer of Réflexion, a model photography firm. We've taken him into custody," he added.
In her Facebook status, Sabira had blamed Nirjhar for her suicide. Before committing suicide, Sabira wrote to her boyfriend that his younger brother, Protoyi Sinha Raeq, a student of BRAC University, had thrown her out of Nirjhar's house during one of her visits there. She also asked her boyfriend how did he feel about her being insulted by his own brother. About her relationship with Nirjhar, she said: "You used me, made sexual relation, but when I asked you to marry me, your family became sick. I became a sex slave... I am attempting to commit suicide just because of you… If I die, he (Nirjhar) will be responsible for my death."
In the video, she was seen attempting to stab herself several times. According to a close source, Sabira and Nirjhar started their relationship after they worked in a billboard advertisement of Element-5, a brand cloth shop, near Jumuna Future Park in the city.
Nirjhar was sexually involved with several girls at once. Sabira recently put pressure on him to marry her. According to one of her friends, Sabria told her that Nirjhar’s brother and mother had assaulted her and asked her to break up with her boyfriend. The friend said that though Nirjhar and Sabira did not marry, they were living together in her flat.
