Nine mothers honoured with ‘Gorbini Ma’ award

On the occasion of Mother’s Day yesterday, Universal Medical College Hospital, for the third time, arranged the ‘Gorbini Ma’ award ceremony. Like the previous years, this award was handed over to honour the mother of an artiste who contributed immensely to the entertainment field of the country and this time, 9 mothers were honoured with the award. The award ceremony was held at RAOWA Convention Centre-2 in the capital’s Moakhali DOHS area. Presided over by Chairman of Universal Medical College Hospital Priti Chakraborty, Managing Director of Universal Medical College Hospital Ashis Kumar Chakraborty delivered welcome speech at the programme. Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation Anisul Haque handed over the awards as chief guest.
This year, the proud mothers were Ruhila Khatun, mother of television personality and CEO of Nagorik TV Abdun Noor Tushar; Nazma Akhtar, mother of National Film Award winning lyricist and journalist Kabir Bakul and Feroza Ahmed, mother of popular actor Apurba. In addition, Ayesha Akhtar, mother of National Film Award winning actress Zakia Bari Momo was also honoured, among others. The artistes shared their thoughts on the honour that their mothers received. Abdun Noor Tushar said, “I have never taken any decision in my life without my mother’s consent. Even today, I always take my mother’s approval before doing anything. I feel that my mother’s approval equals her blessings. That is why my life’s journey always involves her blessings.” Kabir Bakul said, “My mother resides in Chadpur. She has come to Dhaka for this award. I am very grateful to those who have honoured my mother with this award.”
Apurba said, “Mother, I want to thank you for showing me the light of this world. Wherever you are, I pray that the Almighty is looking after you.”
