On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh, Channel i, in association with Surer Dhara, will be organising the annual ‘Hajaro Konthe Barshabaran’, where a thousand voices from talented young artistes will be heard performing to embrace the new year. Just like the previous years, an extravagant arrangement has been made so that the artistes can not only show their talents, but a huge crowd is expected so that they can come and enjoy the celebrations with them. Well known artistes will also take the stage to enthral and add to the festivities. The fifth edition of the event is being patronised by Unilever’s Sunsilk and will be held at the open field of Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
To provide further details, a press conference was held yesterday at the Channel i premises in the capital’s Tejgaon area. Channel i director and head of news Shayk Siraj, eminent Rabindra Sangeet singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Unilever’s brand building director Javed Akhtar were present at the press meet. Shayk Siraj emphasised on the heritage and culture of Pahela Baishakh, “We need to always maintain the beautiful tradition of Pahela Baishakh and pay importance to the cultural aspects and purity of it. ‘Hajaro Konthe Barshabaran 1423’ is one such arrangement that brings people together and it has that celebratory feel, where a thousand voices sing together and welcome the new year. The event takes a lot of effort and dedication so that it can be a success and deliver that pleasant vibe that the Bengali New Year is all about. We select the young artistes from all over Bangladesh to perform here and their excitement is truly inspirational. The fifth edition will also be a pleasant experience. ”
Rezwana Choudhury Bannya spoke more about ‘Hajaro Konthe Barshabaran’, “This is a platform for people with love and appreciation for music and singing. We do it every year. Artistes who perform here are not just from Surer Dhara, but also from various other organisations.”
She added about the criteria that are required to be a part of the performance, “It is a major arrangement that draws a vast crowd. Young artistes are selected from all over to perform and priority is certainly given to those who have performed before. If they have performed on radio or television, have a certificate, are familiar with the song and have that voice, then they are definitely given the chance. During rehearsals, the young artistes do not think of heat, traffic or any sort of inconveniences. They are way too inspired. The eagerness and enthusiasm is something that we definitely appreciate and admire. ”
“This year, the message that we want to convey through the songs are that of welcoming the new year, new hopes, new promises, moving forward and love for the people, to be free from ill will, being there for one another. There is positive energy and power delivered through the songs and that is what we aim to deliver this year as well”, she added further ‘Hajaro Konthe Barshabaran 1423’ will be aired live on Channel i on Pahela Baishakh from dawn and will continue until the afternoon.
