FDC celebrates National Film Day in style
Star-studded cultural evening held at FDC

The dark clouds that were looming upon the sky of Dhaka city did not hamper the enthusiasm and excitement that were planned out for a momentous occasion at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (FDC). Special arrangements have already been made and the vibrant crowd were as excited as ever for the festivities to begin. On the occasion of National Film Day (April 3) and under the initiative of the Information Ministry and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation, a grand event was held on Sunday at the premises of Bangladesh Film Development and Corporation. An array of stars from the countrys film and entertainment industry participated in dazzling performances.
The event began at Shooting Floor No 8 at 8 pm. Popular actors Nirob and Emon, who are also close personal friends, began the evening with their humorous comments. The audience in attendance assumed that the duo will be the presenters of the event. However, Nirob and Emon called upon popular actor-director Zahid Hasan, who graciously took up the role of being the presenter throughout the night. Popular singer Jahan Munni, who received immense praise for the songs O Priyo Ami Tomar Hote Chai and Shob Kotha Bole Na Hridoy from two films, performed the tracks. Afzal Sharif then added the element of humour by presenting jokes to the audience.
Nirob then reappeared on stage with popular actress Shirin Shila. It was known that the duo will be performing with various songs from films by the recently-demised evergreen actress Parvin Sultana Diti. They performed dance together to songs such as Tumi Aj Kotha Diyecho, Ami Ekdin Tomay Na Dekhile and a medley of other songs.
Presenter Zahid Hasan then asked the audience about the popular song Pagol Tor Jonno Re, to which he received a positive response from the audience in attendance. National Film Award winning music composer Belal Khan then came onto the stage and obliged. In addition to the widely popular song, he also performed the track Sonapakhi to the delight of the audience.
Evergreen late actor Salman Shah was also honoured as Emon and Toma Mirza danced to some songs from his films.
The much-anticipated moment arrived when popular actor Omar Sani arrived on the stage, along with popular actress Tanha Tasnia. They danced to songs from films by late great actor Manna. Songs such as Ishwar Allah Bidhata Jaane and Ey Hridoyer Sada Kagoje got new life through the performances.
Other musical performances featured Rumana Islam, Tina Mustari, Ilias Hossain, Ahmed Humayun, among others. Earlier on the day, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the event while Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor was present as chief guest. Other guests included Nayak Raj famed legendary film actor Razzak, Syed Hasan Imam, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Information Secretary Murtaza Ahmed and actress Anjana, among others. The event featured seminars, remembrance tributes, live talk shows, red carpet receptions, still picture presentations, film exhibitions, puppet show, nagardola, Bioscope and performances from the artistes.
