Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will award individuals and organisations who played a pivotal part in implementing the Mandatory Jute Packaging Act 2010 tomorrow (Sunday), reports UNB. Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards at a ceremony at the Bangabandhu Inter-national Conference Centre in the capital. She will also inaugurate a three-day jute fair there. According to the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, some 38 individuals, who played a vital part in making sure that the jute act was enforced consistently, will be given crests in 11 categories. Besides, over 135 products from the Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) will be put on display during the fair. Bangladesh currently ranks 1st in the world in jute export, and 2nd in jute production.
