National Film Award winning actor-playwright-director Mamunur Rashid will turn 68 today and his 17th birth anniversary will be celebrated today. On the occasion of Mamunur Rashid’s birthday, Mamunur Rashid Janmojayanti Parishad has organised an event titled ‘Samya O Shilper Karigar’ today at the National Museum, Shahbag in the city. The event will feature discussion, recitation and rendition of songs.
However, Mamunur Rashid will remain busy with three Television programmes from the morning on his birthday. After attending two programmes on Ekattor TV and Boishakhi TV, he will participate in a show titled ‘Taroka Kathan’ on Channel i at 12:30pm. Hosted by Dilruba Sathy, Mamunur Rashid will speak about his personal and professional life in the show. Besides, he will also attend telephone calls from his fans and well-wishers during the show.
Mamunur Rashid said about his birthday, “It is a matter of happiness that when my birthday arrives, everyone with their immense love and cordiality makes the day a special one. It creates a different type of peace in my mind. I am going to celebrate my 17th birth anniversary and this interesting fact makes me feel that I am still young in spirit. Everyone, please pray for me, so that I can stay healthy and well.”
Mamunur Rashid was born to his father, Harunur Rashid Khan and his mother, Rokeya Khanom in Kalihati of Tangail district. He is the elder son of the family among his five siblings. He has a daughter named Kochi and a boy named Pallab. Manunur Rashid-acted first TV drama was ‘Kobor’, scripted by Munier Chowdhury and directed by Abdullah Al Mamun. His debut directorial stage play was ‘Mohabiplop’ (1965) and till now, he has directed more than 20 plays on the stage. He-directed last drama serial is ‘Altur Cycle’.
Mamunur Rashid was bestowed with the National Film Award for playing a role in Gias Uddin Selim-directed film ‘Monpora’. He is awaiting the release of his upcoming film Gautam Gosh’s ‘Sankhachil’ and Akram Khan’s ‘Khacha’. Keeping Mamunur Rashid in important roles, three drama serials ‘Baksobandi’, ‘Ei Kule Ami R Oi Kule Tumi’ and ‘Cholitese Circus’ are currently being aired on three different channels.
