Nazrul’s granddaughter Anindita Kazi to perform at Gulshan Club today

Anindita Kazi, granddaughter of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, will recite the poet’s famous ‘love letter’ today at the Lamda Hall of Gulshan Club at 7:30pm. Besides poem recitation, Anindita Kazi will render some songs, which are written by her legendary grandfather. Anindita Kazi arrived in Dhaka from Kolkata on June 10 for participating in the programme organised by Delvistaa Foundation. The love letter, which was written by Kazi Nazrul Islam to his lover Nargis, will be recited by Anindita Kazi, mainly from the album ‘Love and Desire’. The second part of the programme will include her presenting some Nazrul songs to the audience.
Anindita Kazi, who is also the president of ‘Taara Music’ in West Bengal, shared some of her thoughts and said “Today I am immensely happy that I am reciting the love letter written by grandfather in the country where he has been placed to rest in eternal peace. Today I also have no hesitation in saying that, these days, many of the Nazrul Sangeet is rendered in a way where the background music supersedes the lyrics. This is a matter of great sorrow for me. It has also been observed that for many in the contemporary generation, singing or training in Nazrul Sangeet is something to be afraid of, even though Nazrul Sangeet can be performed easily by staying in tune. One such example is Khairul Anam Shakil, who properly presents Nazrul Sangeet. I request those who are training the current generation in Nazrul Sangeet to ensure that it is done easily and without much complication. That is how the legacy of Kazi Nazrul Islam will continue to live on from generation to generation.”
To note, on June 11, in a private function, Anindita Kazi also performed and enthralled the audience with some songs such as ‘Anjali Loho Mor’, ‘Ey Sundor Phool Sundor Phol’, ‘Pardesi Megh Re Jaow Re Phire’, ‘Bajragapi Khele Hari’, ‘Ey Rangamati Pathe’, ‘Bhalo Achi Bhalo Thekho’. In addition, today at 7:30 am, she will also appear and sing in the Channel i programme ‘Gaane Gaane Shokal Shuru’.
