Leaders of Bangladesh Rural Practitioners’ Association (BRPA) have said the Rural Medical Practitioners (RMP), commonly known as “Polli Chikitshok”, have been ensuring primary health services to the rural people, reports BSS.
They were addressing a daylong Rangpur divisional conference of BRPA arranged by the organisation at Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city on Friday.
President of the central committee of BRPA Dr Md Sabuz Ali addressed the conference as the chief guest with President of its Rangpur divisional unit Dr Akkas Ali Sarker in the chair.
The BRPA leaders said the RMPs have been contributing largely in building a healthier nation through providing primary medicare services to over 60 percent of the whole population at their doorsteps round the clock in the country.
They called upon the government for considering contributions of the RMPs to the field of rural health medicare services and evaluating them through resolving the prevailing professional problems to ensure their welfare for a better life in the society.
The chief guest called upon the RMPs for rendering their maximum services to the rural people with utmost sincerity and dedication, upholding the spirit of serving to the human being as the profession of the physicians is one of the noblest one.
The RMPs have been playing vital role in reaching primary health services to pregnant women, babies, children and lactating mothers in the rural areas to reduce maternal, neonatal and child deaths in building a healthier nation, he added.
General Secretary of central committee of BRPA Dr Khalilur Rahman, its Assistant Publicity Secretary Dr Azizul Islam and representatives of Navana Pharma Ltd AKM Tariq Mian and Biswajeet Roy attended as special guests.
Presidents, General Secretaries and other executive committee members of the districts units of BRPA from Rangpur, Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Kurigram and Gaibandha districts under Rangpur division took part in the conference.
