Kushtia teacher gets 10yrs in jail

A Kushtia court here yesterday convicted a former schoolteacher and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment in a case for raping female students and recording the rape-scenes through camera, reports UNB. The convict is Helal Uddin Panna alias Panna Master, a teacher of Barokhada Adarsha School in Kushtia sadar upazila. The court also fined him Tk 1.5 lakh and a failure in payment will result in jail term for six more months. However, three other accused in the case Engineer Alimuzzaman Tutul, Monwar Hossain and Awlad Hossain -- were acquitted. Engineer Shariful islam Sajal, another accused in the case, died during the trial. The verdict came barely three weeks into the verdict of ex-teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School Parimal Joyodhar for violating a student of the school. According to the prosecution, Panna Master, a teacher of Barkhada Adarsha School, developed sexual relations with some of his female students at his home and recorded those activities through camera. Later, he forced the students to have sexual relations with other people, threatening them to spread the video footages.
