Narcotics Control Department (NCD) of Chittagong yesterday arrested Cox’s Bazar district correspondent of a private television channel and his wife from Mariners Road in Firingi Bazar of Chittagong city along with 40,000 yaba tablets. The arrestees were Mohammad Selim, 32, Cox’s Bazar District Correspondent of a private television and his wife Khaleda Begum Munni, 26. “The couple were going to Dhaka by a microbus from Cox’s Bazar, we have the information that they were carrying yaba tablets with blanket in the luggage, while the micro bus reached Mariners Road at around 12pm, we stopped the microbus and seized the 40,000 yaba tablets from the blanket,” said Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, inspector Kowtali Zone of NCD Chittagong. “He identified himself as a journalist of a private television and gave us an identity card of the television,” said Ibrahim. Our Cox’s Bazar district correspondent Tofiqual Islam Lipu also confirmed that Selim is Cox’s Bazar District Correspondent of private television.
