As far as the players’ payment issue is concerned, it looks the third edition of BPL is well organised. As of now no serious allegation from any players came with regards to the payment. Rather the players of at least two franchisees confirmed that they didn’t face any trouble in being paid like the other editions.
Chittagong Vikings who finished last in the six-team tournament has already paid its all players even before the deadline. Officials said, all of the foreign players of the team had already left Dhaka for their respective country with being paid full amount.
According to the tournament law, the players are supposed to get 25 percent of the total amount before the tournament starts, 50 percent during the tournament and the last 25 percent within one month of the completion of the tournament. In the aspect of the regulations, all players are supposed to get 75 percent of their full amount till date.
Vikings were supposed to pay the full amount within January 15 but they came up with good gestures by giving its foreign players hand cash including papers of NBR before they left the Bangladesh. Comilla Victorians captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said they are yet to face any trouble in being paid. But still there are some irregularities with the payment of Sylhet Super Stars who also ended the tournament after being flayed by Victorians yesterday.
Shahid Afridi, skipper of Sylhet Super Stars, said he heard some of the players are yet to get the amount which they were supposed to get at this phase. But he hoped all things will be sorted out as early as possible.  “At the moment what I could tell is that some players said they didn’t get payment. But the BCB took the responsibility of paying the players in case of any problem. I must give the credit to BPL and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), who have organised a good tournament. I personally really enjoyed and I think if they could sort out the problems like payment issue, players from all over the country will come here and play in BPL,” he said.
A total of nine foreign players were recruited by Vikings for the third edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Of them, Kamran Akmal (wk), Mohammad Amir, Saeed Ajmal and Umar Akmal came from Pakistan, Tillakaratne Dilshan, Jeevan Mendis, Chamara Kapugedera from Sri Lanka, while Elton Chigumbura of Zimbabwe and Robin Peterson (South Africa).
Robin Peterson amongst the players did not come to play for Chittagong Vikings in the BPL as he was busy in playing his domestic Ram Slam T20 Challenge for
Cape Cobras. On the other hand, Comilla Victorians skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that their franchisee paid all the players’ payment. “We got the payment cheque at night before the last game. Now our local players got 75 percent and foreign players received their 100 percent payment,” said Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.
