Mastul Foundation, an organisation that works with underprivileged children, recently celebrated the ‘birthdays’ of around one hundred street children of Dhaka city with a daylong party at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi.
With the slogan ‘Children will smile, children will study’, the birthday celebration, named ‘Fuchka Bilash’, included cake cutting, eating snacks, balloon blowing competition and playing different games, as well as gift distribution among the children.
“I am so happy. Actually, I have never had a birthday celebration before in my life. I wish this kind of event will happen more in the future,” said Rokibullah, an 11-year-old boy from Dhanmondi.
The children, from different areas of Dhanmondi, enjoyed the whole day wearing new clothes, eating party foods, playing games and having fun in general.
“Mastul has been working for the underprivileged children for long. We are also concerned about their education rights. Besides Dhaka, such programmes will be arranged
in five other districts to give street children the joy of birthday celebrations,” said Kazi Riaz Rahman, founder and executive director of Mastul Foundation.
The foundation is working to ensure education rights and other basic necessities of underprivileged children for the past three years.
