KHULNA: Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor said here yesterday that cultural promotion was a prerequisite to create conscious opinion of the masses to fight against any rise of militancy in the country, reports BSS. He said, people can distinguish good from the bad after enahncing their knowledge through cultural practices . The minister was addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony at Khulna District Shilpakala Academy at Sher-e-Bangla road area in the city.
''We want to take organised cultural activities to the grass root level as their is no alternative to cultural growth to go ahead as a nation," he said. He gave emphasis on organising more cultural programmes at different levels to help generate interests among the common people and encourage them to fight against militants in the process of building an enlightened society. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's philosophy can ensure peace, happiness and prosperity for the nation, the minister said, adding that Bangabnadhu's cultural vision inspired people to take the path of humanity and fight for the independence of Bangladesh. Chaired by the President of Khulna Shilpakala Academy and Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Mostofa Kamal, the function was addressed, among others, by the Director General of Shilpakala academy Liakat Ali Lucky, Vice- Chancellor of Khulna University Prof. Dr. Mohammad Fayequzzaman, Acting Mayor of Khulna City Corporation Anisur Rahman Biswas, Administrator of Khulna District Council Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Additional Chief Engineer of PWD Division G M M Kamal Pasha and General secretary of Shilpokola Academy Mokbul Hossain.
