Mayor, councilor candidates finalised in two districts

The main political parties Awami League (AL) and BNP have declared the names of their candidates for the upcoming municipal polls in Bhola and Chapainawabganj districts.
In Bhola, the municipal polls are scheduled to be held in Bhola sadar, Daulatkhan and Borhanuddin on December 30.
Ruling party Awami league have already selected their candidates for mayoral posts and declared their names. They are Monir uzzaman Monir (incumbent mayor) in Bhola Sadar, Rafiqul Islam (incumbent mayor) in Borhanuddin, and Khairul Islam in Daulatkhan pourashava.
Abdul Momin Tulu the secretary of Bhola Zila Awmai League confirmed the selection.
While the BNP Bhola district unit president Golam Nabi Alamgir declared the names of their selected candidates for mayoral post in three pourashavas in a press briefing.
They are Harunur Rashid Trueman in Bhola sadar, Monir uzzaman Kabir in Borhanuddin and Anwar Hossain Kakon in Daulat Khan pourashava. During the time mayoral candidates and counselor candidates have started to mass contact.
When contacted Monir uzzaman Monir Mayoral candidate of Bhola said he is hopeful about his win as he worked for the people and the development of Bhola sadar for build up Bhola as a model pourashava throughout the country. While BNP expects that their candidates will win if the voter can cast their vote in free and fair situation.
In Chapainawabgnaj, the BNP has finalised the councillor candidates in Chapainawabganj municipality for the upcoming municipality polls in an election preparation meeting on Sunday evening.
According to the party sources, the selected candidates are former councillor Jahangir Kabir in ward 1, Humayun Kabir in ward 2, Enamul Hoque in ward 3, Durul Islam in ward 4, Ahsan Ali in ward 5, former councillor Abdul Barek in ward 6, Kurban Ali in ward 7, MoidulIslam in ward 8, Saidur Rahman in ward 11, Saidur Rahman in ward 12, Tasiqul Islam in ward 13, Dulal Uddin in ward 14 and Yunus Ali in ward 15. Candidates for wards 9 and 10 would be selected later, the sources said. The sources added that BNP also selected candidates for reserved women seats. The women candidates are Mina Begum for wards 1, 2, 3, Karima Begum for wards 4,5,6, Munira Khatun for wards 7, 8, 9, Selina Begum for wards 10,11,12 and Nargis Begum for wards 13,14 and 15.
Earlier, BNP declared former Jamaat leader and former mayor of the municipality Ataur Rahman as mayor candidate as he joined BNP. In the preparation meeting, central organising secretary for Rajshahi division and former law maker Harunur Rashid, mayor candidate Ataur Rahman, general secretary of the municipality unit of BNP Advocate
Moyej Uddin,   general secretary of sadar thana BNP Aminul Islam Moti and other BNP leaders spoke.  T hey asked the party workers to work for the party-candidates with dedication.
