The two-day Deputy Commissioner (DC)-District Magistrate (DM) level joint conference between Bangladesh and India concluded yesterday in Dinajpur.
A total of 16 issues, including exchange of prisoners and land records, border pillars' identification, infrastructure development of Hili land port, establishment of border haats, halting of human trafficking, trade between the countries, joint patrols to stop drugs and arms smuggling, and preventing of border killings were discussed, said DC of Chapainwabganj M Jahangir Kabir, who led the Bangladesh delegation, at a press conference.
Pritha Sarkar, district Magistrate of Jalpaiguri district and leader of the Indian side, said the meeting was very cordial.
“We have decided to stop cross-border crime,” she said. DCs, police superintendents and commanders of BGB of nine districts, district collectors, district magistrates and police supers of six Indian districts attended the bilateral conference.
