�7th Kahal Art Fair 2015� begins at BSA today

A weeklong group art exhibition titled ‘7th Kahal Art Fair 2015’, jointly organized by the Kahal Art Group and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), will begin today at the National Art Plaza of BSA, Segun Bagicha in the city.
Lawmaker Simeen Hussain Rimi will inaugurate the fair today as chief guest, while veteran artist Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and Counsellor of Japan Embassy in Dhaka Mitsutake Numahata will be present as special guests. ‘Kahal’ is an organization, which was formed by the artists of Bangladesh and Japan in 2008. With the titled ‘Kahal Art fair 2015’, Kahal Art Group has organised its 7th art exhibition, while ‘Time form and perspective’ was its first exhibition held at Drik Gallery in Bangladesh. A number of 4 Japanese, 1 Korean and 26 Bangladeshi young artists participated in that exhibition with 57 artworks.  Kahal arranged its 2nd art exhibition titled ‘Face of Bangladesh’ at the ikubukoro orange gallery, Tokyo in Japan in 2010, where 5 Japanese and 17 Bangladeshi artists participated with their 46 artworks.
This year, artists from eight countries, including Bangladesh, Japan, China, India, Sri Lanka are taking part in the exhibition with their 400 works. Besides artworks, the exhibition features sculpture, installation, performance and many more.
A total number of 10 artworks which are being exhibited in the exhibition will be awarded with ‘Kahal’ award, where three artworks will receive grand award and seven will receive honourary award. The first grand award winner will get a chance to visit Japan and to exhibit artworks in an art gallery of Tokyo. Apart from that, Kahal started giving an award ‘Kahal Shommamona’ for the person who works in the art sector in Bangladesh from last year. The award will also be given to a person this year too.
The exhibition will remain open to all every day from 12pm to 8pm, until November 26.
