11th edition of Jatra Utsab ends today

A two-day festival titled 11th Jatra Utsab 2019 will conclude today at the Studio Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital. The festival has been organised by Theatre and Film Studies Department of BSA to implement Jatra Industry Development Policy 2012 and registration of Jatra troupe.
A panel of judges consisting SM Mohsin, Ramendu Majumdar, Md Badrul Anam Bhuiyan, Dr Afsar Ahmed, Tapos Sarkar, Milon Kanti Dey, Nasiruddin Yousuff, Mamunur Rashid and Josna Biswas is working in the registration process of different Jatra troupes.
The closing day of the festival will feature the performance of Jatra pala Meghe Dhaka Taara by Naba Prabhat Opera (Kushtia), Manabi Devi by Rajmahal Opera (Khulna), Mayer Chokhe Jol by Balaka Opera (Bogura) and Kalangkita Nayak by Probhash Opera (Khulna).
The festival began yesterday with the performance of three troupes from Narsingdi. Dipti Natya Sangstha staged Sagorbhasa, Sabita Natya Sangstha staged Rupoban and Sumi Natya Sangstha staged Prem Kumar. l
