Independent Television, one of the leading 24-hour news channels, has started its broadcasting through Bangabandhu Satellite-I, officials said yesterday. Independent TV like many other Bangladeshi television channels used to broadcast though Hong Kong-based satellite APSTAR 7.
Industry insiders have said with the commissioning of Bangabandhu Satellite-I, satellite television channels of the country will be able to save a huge amount of foreign currency.
Last month, Association of Television Channel Owners (ATCO) announced all local private television channels in the country would broadcast through the Bangabandhu Satellite-I.
Bangabandhu Satellite-I is located at 119.1 Degree East. Its downlink frequency is 4544.5.
