Akhi Alamgir to receive Birla Academy award

Celebrated Bangladeshi singer Akhi Alamgir is going to receive Kolkata Maitri Sammanana this year. Birla Academya Kolkata-based prominent cultural organisation, will bestow the award on Akhi Alamgir, along with several political and cultural personalities from India. The awards will be handed over to the recipients at a programme in Kolkata tomorrow. Akhi said about getting the award, Though I didnt judge how honourable it would be to get this award, this is immensely a joyful matter for me that I am going to receive an award from Kolkata for the first time. Birla Academy has always been an advanced organisation in the cultural arena. They are taking me there, which makes me feel really great, she added. Akhi, accompanied by her two daughters, will travel to Kolkata today. After attending award ceremony tomorrow, she will return home on November 2. On the other hand, Akhi has lent her vocal to a playback song to a new film recently. The films name is Raat 12-tar Pore, directed by Dewan Nazmul.
