BRAC University Film Club

BRAC University Film Club (BUFC) is one of the most active clubs of Brac University. The club formed in 2004 with the initiative of some enthusiastic students and teachers who wanted to promote good movies in the university. The vision of the club is to enrich people’s lives and enable cultural exchange by depicting life itself, through films, and to become the club most recognized for innovations.
BUFC was born out of a vision to make better the lives of all its stakeholders by not just screening films but by living them. BUFC’s strongest driving force is its people who are known as BUFCians and who are passionate about meeting and achieving new feats regarding films. They are given total freedom to imagine and implement the craziest ideas as long as they are relevant.
The club always arranges event in the university. Screening movies, arranging workshops and making documentaries are the major fields in which this club is working for. Working towards cultural exchange through national and international films as well as development of film scenario in Bangladesh is the primary goal of the club.
A number of mega film festivals have been hosted at BRAC University by the BRAC University Film Club or BUFC for short. The 4th Annual Film Festival, a three-day long festival held in 2011 took a more unconventional path in that it focused on movies created in South Asia that have a cultural emphasis. The students of BRAC University presented here rarely screened films.
They believe that showing movies is not enough. In order to become something more, we must “live” the medium. They focus to make the students interested towards film making.
BRAC University Film Club recognises the need of contributing to society and strives to make a difference in people’s lives wherever applicable by utilizing the power of the film-medium and its active members.
They have a proud history of creating leaders and improve ability of students through activity all around. As their motto is “Learn, serve and achieve 360 Degrees” they always try to enhance leading and organising ability.
