The third match between Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-17 team and the visiting Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) ended in a draw at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar yesterday. After the end of the third match, the home side led the four-match series with 1-0. The fourth and last match of the series will be started at the same venue on October 20.
Riding on Shamim Patwari’s 226, BCB U-17 team mustered a healthy first innings total of 403 following Indian CAB’s first innings knock of 257. The visiting CAB finished the Day-3 scoring 121-3 in 60 overs in their second innings.
Resuming the last day at 265-6, the home side added 138 runs at the cost of the remaining four wickets. Overnight batsman Shamim Patwari completed his incredible double century with boundary when he sent the fourth delivery of Tribrit Roy’s 38th over for four though he was removed by Roy’s delivery just after four overs. He completed his brilliant double century from 263 balls with the help of nine sixes as many as 17 fours. Finally he plundered 226 off 389 that studded with 21 fours and 10 sixes so far.
Before being trapped lbw by Tribrit Roy. He stitched a 40-run with Sahadat Ridoy for the 7th wicket and another 40-run for the 8th wicket stand with Ishaq Ali, who bolstered BCB innings with unbeaten 30. Ali shared a 51-run for the 9th wicket with Sharif Islam, who fell for 29. Left-arm spinner Tribrit Roy was the most successful bowler of the visitors, finishing his bowling figure with 6-121. Roy was ably aided by another left-arm spinner Kaushik Maity, who grabbed four wickets for 132 with his magic charm.
The tourists lost their two early wickets in the space of 21 runs. Together with Sharnik Banerjee, Sayantan Manna hit a 81-run for the third wicket stand, which gave them the chance to draw the match for the second time. Banerjee chipped in with 47. Manna remained unbeaten on 36. Debojyoti Ghosh was on 11 not out.
Shamim Patwari, Sahadat Ridoy and Sharif Islam took one wicket each for the local side. Shamim later was adjudged the player of the match for his outstanding performance.
