Major reshuffle in police

A major reshuffle in the police administration was carried out by transferring nine senior officers yesterday (Wednesday). The deputy inspector general (DIG) of Police Headquarters, Md Humayun Kabir, has been transferred as commissioner of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police. The DIG of the Industrial Police in Dhaka, Md Shahabuddin Khan, has been made commissioner of the Barishal Metropolitan Police, while the DIG of the anti-terrorism unit in Dhaka, Khandaker Lutful Kabir, has been transferred as Commissioner of the Khulna Metropolitan Police and the DIG of Police Headquarters, Md Anwar Hossain, has been made commissioner of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police.
The commissioner of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, AKM Hafiz Akter, has been transferred as DIG of the Rajshahi Range and the commissioner of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police, YM Belalur Rahman, has been made DIG of Police Headquarters, while the DIG of the Rajshahi Range, M Khurshid Hossain, has been transferred as DIG of Police headquarters in Dhaka and the DIG of the Khulna Range, Md Didar Ahmed, has been made DIG of the Anti-Terrorism Unit in Dhaka. The DIG of Police Headquarters in Dhaka, Dr Khandaker Mahid Uddin, has been made DIG of the Khulna Range. The home ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard yesterday.
Meanwhile, in April last year a major reshuffle took place in the police administration with promotion of 25 police officials to the rank of superintendent of police (SP) and given new postings. Twenty four additional superintendents of police and an additional deputy police commissioner were promoted to the rank of SPs.
