Barishal welcomes spring

Pahela Falgun, the first day of spring in the Bangla calendar, was observed in Barishal yesterday. The main Basanta Baran festival was held on Govt Women College campus and was inaugurated by principal of the college Prof Motaleb Hawladar.

Barishal Shilpokola Accademi, Barisal Natok and Udichi Shilpi Gosthi Barishal unit also arranged the traditional ‘Basanto Baron Ustav’ and book fair on the ground of the Saraswati School. Students of Barisal Govt BM College and Barisal University organised separate programmes in their campuses.  Other cultural organizations also arranged the programmes at different parts of the city on this occasion.

Songs, dances, recitations, talks and exchange of greetings and gifts and presentations by indigenous people and songs presented there by leading singers.
