The construction work of long awaited bridge on the Chitra River connecting Narail district town with Lohagara, Kalna and Mawa is progressing fast. Local Government Engineering Department is supervising the construction of the bridge that will cut distance between Dhaka and northwestern districts, and Kolkata in West Bengal state of India. Director of the construction firm UDC Abidur Rahman Liku said that they had got the work order for construction of the bridge on April 17 this year at an estimated cost of Tk 282,080,199. “The construction of the bridge is supposed to be completed by December 24, 2016. But we are trying to complete the work before the stipulated time”, he added. Executive Engineer of Narail LGED Mohammad Motaleb Biswas said the construction work is going on smoothly as per schedule. Rare mineral black stone is being used here, he added.
