Akbar leads Bangladesh U-19 team

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Saturday announced the 15-member squad of the Bangladesh Under- 19 cricket team for the bilateral home series against England Under-19 cricket team.

The BCB also declared wicketkeeper-batsman Akbar Ali as the captain of the youth Tigers and Shamim Hossain as his deputy for the series. The board kept Sajid Hossain Seam, Minhazur Rahman Mohanna, Mujakkir Hussain, Asadullah Hill Galib and Fazle Rabbi as stand by.

The visiting English Colts are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka today (Sunday) and will travel to the initial venue ground in the same day. Bangladesh youth team is now in Cox's Bazar, where they played a practice match between themselves to pick the best playing XI for the first game.

They will play all types of matches across the formats. The series has comprised of one-off Twenty20 international, three-ODI and two youth Test series during the month-long series.

The series will open with a Twenty20 international, slated to hold at the Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium on January 27. But they will play a warm-up match before heading into the main series of the youth.

They will play three youth one-day international series at the same venue on January 29 and 31 along with February 2 respectively.

They will play two-match youth Test series at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. The first of the four-dayer will start on February 7-10, while the second will play on February 15-18 before departing for London on February 19.
