55th founding anniv of BTV celebrated

Yesterday marked the 55th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Television (BTV). The national television station of the country started its journey on December 25 in 1965.

Channel i, a leading private television channel in the country, has been celebrating the anniversary of BTV every year by expressing its responsibility to the state-run TV channel. This year, the anniversary programme began with a special episode of ‘Gane Gane Sokal Shuru’ aired on Channel i.

Beginning in the early morning, the celebration programme was attended by former officials, artistes and crews of BTV on the premises of Channel i. The special attraction of the programme featured solo rendition of eminent Tagore singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and chorus rendition by the artistes of Surer Dhara, a prominent music school in the country.

Joining with the singers of Surer Dhara and ‘Shera Kantho’, a popular reality show on Channel i, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Syed Abdul Hadi and Dinat Jahan Munni performed the popular song ‘Dhono Dhanne Pushpe Bhora’ on the same stage.

In the beginning of the programme, Channel i director and head of news Shykh Seraj delivered speech. He said, “BTV upholds the thousand-year-old art, culture and heritage of Bangalis. The role of BTV is immeasurable as far as the development of the country’s art and culture is concerned. Holding the hand of BTV, today’s huge mass media has been created. We, the channel i family, are proud to arrange such a programme on the birthday of BTV.”

Among others, BTV director general Harun Ar Rashid and secretary Abdul Maleq delivered speeches at the event.

On the other hand, Mostafa Monwar, Azad Rahman, Shafiqur Rahman, Keramat Mawla, Kamrunnessa, Zahid Uddin Mamun, Syed Hasan Imam, Ali Imam, Syed Abdul Hadi, Khairul Alam Sabuj, KS Firoz and Laila Haq, among others, recalled the fond memories of BTV as they were involved with this station from its inception.
