Journalist Awlad Hossain no more

Eminent senior cine journalist Awlad Hossain breathed his last on Thursday night at 3 am in the capital’s Lab Aid Hospital. The doctors informed that he passed away due to heart failure. The news of his untimely death sent shockwaves among the showbiz arena and reporters of the country. He was 49 years old. According to family members, Awlad Hossain came back to his Jigatola residence after work and complained of illness. Then after a while he lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to Lab Aid Hospital, where he passed away.
Before his death, the veteran cine journalist was the senior reporter of the Daily Manabjamin and prior to that he worked and wrote for various weekly and fortnightly magazines and newspapers. He started his career in 1987 as a sub editor in the ‘Saptahik Chhyachanda’ magazine.
Born in 1966 on August 19 in Islampur area of Dhaka, he was the fourth among five children from parents Mobarak Hossain and Luthfunessa. He completed his SSC in 1982 from Hammadia High School and his HSC from Sheikh Borhan Uddin College in 1984, and he completed his Honours from Jagannath University in 1987 and Masters in 1990.
During his career as a journalist, Awlad Hossain always involved himself in several movements for the rights of film journalists in the country. For his various involvements, in 2002-2003, he took the responsibility as Sports and Cultural secretary  of Dhaka Union of Journalists and was the president of Film Journalist Foundation of Bangladesh.
He leaves behind his wife Mousumi Hossain and his children Mohammad Shahbaz Hossain Moon and Aparajita Hossain Mim. Both his son and daughter are studying in Bangladesh Medical College.
