Solo classical dance fest at Nat’l Museum today

Shadhona, a center for advancement of South Asian culture, is arranging its maiden solo classical dance festival titled ‘Ranga Utsav 2018’ in association with Singularity Interactive. The festival will kick off at the main auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum in the capital’s Shahbagh at 6pm this evening.

Shadhona has been working for the last 26 years to promote young promising dancers from all over the country. As part of this continuous endeavor, the centre is now arranging this event to encourage the talented artists and help them on their journey.

Lubna Marium, artistic director and general secretary of Shadhona, said, “We are helping artistes for 26 years. Now we feel that we only arrange training for the students, but students need a platform too.”

“We want to provide a platform for the students. The main objective is to give opportunity to newbies,” she added.  

At the event, Snata Shahrin and SM Hasan Ishtiaque Imran will perform Kathak dance today, while Mariah Farih Upama and Madhurima Roy Chowdhury will present Bharatnatyam, Alka Das Pranti Odissi and Ahona Sharma Manipuri dance numbers.
